I find it amazing the shift in how people are consuming their content. With more and more services being provided online, and most of it for free, there is no telling where this will go, or when it will end. Digital services are becoming increasingly popular forcing traditional marketing methods to reinvent themselves. Traditional media format are also looking at changing the way they do business as entire market segment are shifting to online and mobile content.
That being said, it's not just the techies that are a part of this group, apparently education is taking steps down this road. I host a podcast, Tech in Twenty, where I delved into the uses of online media in education. More and more educators are using online media as a way to reach students, provide them opportunities and prepare them for the future. With the advent of blogging, vlogging, podcasting, vidcasting, social networks, and other forms of connecting with communities and learning, the tools are becoming key to the curriculum.
I recently did an interview with CEO and co-founder of BrightStorm, Jeff Marshall. BrightStorm is a major player in education through interactive media. Their online video tutorial site not only offers students and parents a way to bridge the gaps of learning, but also provide a way for students to utilize their online time wisely by finding ways to further their knowledge in a variety of subjects; math, science, English, literature, and even SAT preparation.
Pay a visit to their website, follow them on Twitter, and listen to their interview and become involved in their movement to ensure that every student has an opportunity to continue their education.
