Using a phrase from Chris Brogan, I'd like to say that Likeaholix is "doing it right."
How so? I've seen social sites do a lot interesting things to get people to join the ranks of the online communities, but something that strikes me about Likaholix's most recent push is their efforts to do something for the greater good of the world community.
I got this in my email and noticed immediately that they are offering me $3 for every friend I invite. Now sure there's some small print attached to it, but it immediately has my interest as something of value to me for being a part of this network. Who doesn't want to make money?
The part after that is what really sells me. "You may choose to donate this money to a charity of your choice." How perfect is that? I'm given two great choices, make money (great value to me) or donate the money I earn to charity (great value to me and others).
The timing is perfect, the season is right, and just by inviting friends and sharing my "likes" with them a charity can benefit, and on the social web, the amount of money that can be raised is exponential.
Would you like an invite? Email me so that you and I can raise money for a charity together.
