Top 5 Podcasts for Marketers

Recently I was asked to give some recommendations for some podcasts that I listen to on a regular basis. That question alone made me realize how much I depend on my audio player. Not only do I get my news from there, but I listen to audio books, music, and of course my podcasts. Online audio is a vital part of my everyday routine since I do a lot of working at a computer, it keeps me motivated and inspired to keep moving forward.

With regards to what I do as a professional, I find that podcasts allow me to connect with other professionals as they share what works for them, industry news, and their thoughts on online media marketing as a whole. I feel a close connection with these podcasters that I don't get in any other format, it feels like they are talking to me directly.

If you're into any form of media, online/offline, or otherwise, here are the top 5 podcasts that I listen to:

  1. Marketing Over Coffee - Marketing over coffee has been a personal favorite of mine after being introduced to it by my friend, Jennifer Navarrete. The podcast delves into the latest in marketing news for both online and offline industries. They also have segments where they interview industry leaders, and from time to time they release some great PDF e-books for their listeners. I highly recommend this podcast for any marketing professional.
  2. Managing the Gray - A great informal podcast done by C.C Chapman who is one of the main frontrunners in engagement marketing. His conversational approach to his podcast is comforting and quite personal. Listening to him makes you feel like he's talking to you directly, as if carrying a conversation. He asks lots of great key questions, and leaves you with action items to mull over and make happen.
  3. Internet Business Mastery - If you're an entrepreneur, a business owner, or just curious about starting your own business and how to get people to be interested into what you're doing, this is the podcast for you. As an independent content creator myself, I find their information priceless, and the two hosts are very engaging and encouraging to all of their listeners. Sterling and Jay are amazing folks who will not only inspire you, but want to tell the world about you. They have a pay site attached to their business, but the podcast is free, so enjoy and make your business a reality.
  4. Marketing Voices - I think Marketing Voices was the first industry related podcast that I listened to. Jennifer Jones, the host, does an amazing job of keeping her podcast short, concise, but jam packed with useful information. She's always finding some top candidates to interview an gives lots of great information for all us to take to heart. I've even been introduced to a few companies out there doing amazing things, and that is what I look for in a good podcast.
  5. Six Pixels of Separation - A true knockout in marketing podcasts, Six Pixels is not your standard podcast. Be ready to strap yourself in and get bombarded with tips, hints, tricks, interviews, tactics, strategies, and industry changes in new media marketing. Mitch Joel is  fast talking host, but don't let that scare you away, a lot of what he says is golden and his guests are just as amazing. Once you're buckled in, be sure to turn this up and ignore all interruptions, you'll thank me for this later.
So there you have it, that's what I'm listening to, that's what I love and while I listen to a total of 15 podcasts, these are the top 5 that I don't miss. What are you listening to? Perhaps I've left your favorite marketing podcast off the list, and if I did, I want to hear about it!
