Twitter REtweets Get REtooled

In a recent update on Twitter.com, developers had been working on a "retweet" tool that caused ripples in the community. The basis of this development came partly from the fact that retweeting did not have a consistent and easily recognizable format, and I assume for some, if not many, it was a frustrating experience.

Too many variations to retweeting such as the standard "RT" at the beginning, the post and then the "(via @...)" at the end, and finally the added value of people saying things like "Great post, must read -> RT @..." have been seen on Twitter.

In this effort to standardize the RT process, many people were conflicted over not being to attached added value comments, or how it would display without the ability to make changes. All in all there were some valid points on both sides of the camp. But apparently the launch wasn't ready as Twitter thought.

So what's your take on this issue? Aside from the fact that it's going to be released again after being retooled, do you find this a major disruption in the process? Perhaps you use a third party app that is not affected.

What's your RT preference?
