Believing in Yourself

Today I had the pleasure of meeting Magaly Chocano, founder of Swebapps. It was a business meeting of sorts, but mostly it was also an introductory meeting since I am a huge fan of what they do and wanted to find a way for the show I co-host, Tech in Twenty, and her company to work together on a few projects. Pesonally, her story is amazing, the success of her company unparrallel, and the outlook is outstanding. All of it coming not just from hard work but from believing in yourself.

Tips to Boost Your Confidence

There's a lot to be said about confidence. It can open doors, attract the right people, and help you scale great mountains with ease. Confidence, not to be confused with being cocky, is a trait that entrepreneurs and business owners should have. So here are a couple of tips for you to build that confidence:
  1. Take action. If something comes up, make it actionable and do it NOW.
  2. Face your Fears. Face them with the knowledge you need to overcome them.
  3. Understand the journey to your destination.
  4. Always be prepared.
  5. Understand failure is okay.
  6. Be open to expanding your network.
These tips alone sound simple enough, but over the course of the next few weeks I'll be exploring them and hopefully help some of you become more open and willing to take the calculated risks necessary to get yourself out there.

What Magaly did with Swebapps was a risk, though planned, there was no promise of success at the end, it was worked for. She's still working for it now and everyone in her network is rooting for her.

*On a side note, Swebapps is also in the running for the Rackspace Cloud contest for best company in the cloud. Watch their video and scroll down to vote for them. Voting ends tomorrow. Congrats to Magaly and her entire team for being bold and making this video.
