Today's NFL halftime show is going to feature The Who, playing the songs of old that a great many of us know, remember, and cherish. While that halftime show is all well and good, local PR specialist and new media leader has brought a social cause into the lime light by supporting it with his efforts to bring social media into the realm of social good. Alan Weinkrantz of Weinkrantz & Co. has created an effort called The Other Halftime Show which will focus on a specific cause every year. This year's inaugural launch will be focusing on Hugs4Holly.
Fundraising for Hugs4Holly
Hugs4Holly is a cause that Alan Weinkrantz and the local San Antonio community has turned to support in an effort to save a woman's life in need of a double lung transplant. Due to unique circumstances, Holly is in desperate need of this transplant, and with the support of her husband and the community, they are looking to raise $100,000.
The Other Halftime Show's efforts will focus on raising money during the Super Bowl's regularly scheduled halftime show. Five minutes after The Who leave the stage, The Other Halftime Show's own musical group, the Twitter Jam Band will broadcast live via Ustream to bring awareness to this cause and hopefully help in raising the funds needed for the transplant.
So instead of indulging in highlight after highlight, during the halftime show, why not tune in to The Other Halftime Show and do something good to help someone live better.
If you're looking for some ways to broadcast the information to as many people as possible, here is a comprehensive list of where the information has been posted and we hope that you can share these links with your internet communities.
A special thanks to one of the organizers, Jennifer Navarrete, for putting this list together:
