Lifelong Challenge: Conquering Fear

As a participant of NaPodPoMo (National Podcasting Post Month), I'm challenged to come up with ideas for topics of discussion every day for the entire month of November. While not necessarily a staggering challenge, there are challenges in life that I feel a great many of us avoid tackling head on. Recently I posted a podcast (you can listen below) that dealt with challenging your fears, overcoming obstacles and being the hero in your own story.

Fear makes us human, but conquering it makes us a success!

Success in Small Steps

I challenged all of my listeners this week to choose one of their fears, and attempt to conquer it. It may not happen in a week or in a month, but identifying what is keeping you from moving forward and overcoming is the only way we can grow. I am definitely no exception. Many of my fears may seem unfounded and silly, but don't the majority of these fears fall into this category? Many of the fears we adopt are behaviors that have been taught to us either socially or academically. This makes them essentially self imposed, and they are hard to shake.

Look at some of the basic fears you have, maybe it's a fear of public speaking, a fear of letting people down, a fear of being accepted, take your pick. Try to take reasonable steps to erase those fears and conquer them one at a time.

Fear can catapult us to do great things, make great strides in what would otherwise be a mundane situation. I invite you to journey with me on taking on these fears and be a hero to yourself and establish new boundaries where none existed before.

The choice is yours!
