Admit Missteps, Fix the Future

Transparency in social media is nothing new. You can find all sorts of articles discussing the topic, sharing tips on how to be "transparent." You'll even hear some of the bigger names in new media mention it in presentation after presentation, but how many people are truly on board with the idea?

Big brands are still relying on agencies to manage their social accounts entirely, we're seeing issues where being human is causing loss of employment, embarrassment and more. Perhaps the world isn't really ready for true transparency, regardless of how ideal the concept might be.

Which is why I was very surprised and inspired by reading two blogs posts by Justin Kownacki entitled "Why I'm Reinventing Myself: A Financial Awakening at 33" and "How Throwing My Back Out Made Me A Better Businessman." Both of these posts are truly introspective with something that all of us can learn.

Looking at the frustration of financial insecurities, the realization having no structure to succeed, and the sharing of a personal health issue that turned into an epiphany are well shared stories that I enjoyed reading.

Take a look at both of these and see transparency at work. It's an honest reflection on life and an earnest effort to communicate, engage, and improve. I love it!
